Terms of Service
Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of paperlessfin.com, an educational resource about bookkeeping and accounting workflow automation. By using the site, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
Before you read on
What these terms cover
PaperlessFin publishes guides, comparisons, and explainers about bookkeeping and accounting workflow automation for small businesses, startups, and accounting teams in the United States. These terms describe what you may do with the site, what the content is and is not, how references to third-party software work, and where liability sits. They apply to every visitor, whether you read one guide or use the site as a reference during an internal evaluation.
We keep the terms short on purpose. Plain wording beats dense clauses: if a paragraph here is unclear, write to us using the details at the bottom of the page and we will explain what it means.
Section one
Use of the site
The site is a reference library. You may read it, quote it briefly with attribution, and use it while you plan a bookkeeping or accounts payable workflow for your own business.
You may use paperlessfin.com for personal, professional, or internal business reference. That includes sharing a link with a colleague, quoting a paragraph in an internal memo, or reading a comparison before you talk to a software vendor.
You may not use the site in a way that breaks applicable law, attempts to disrupt or overload its operation, scrapes it at volume, or misrepresents our content as your own published material. You also may not present the site as an official source of any software vendor it describes.
Access is free and no account is required to read anything here. If you link to the site from your own pages, a plain link is welcome and needs no permission.
Section two
No professional advice
Everything on the site is general information about how bookkeeping and accounting workflows are put together. It is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship between you and PaperlessFin.
Decisions about your books, your filings, your chart of accounts, or which software you buy should be made with a qualified professional where appropriate. Your situation has details a general guide cannot see: entity structure, state rules, payroll, inventory, investor reporting, and the way your team actually works.
Where a guide walks through a workflow, treat it as a starting point for your own questions rather than a replacement for advice from your accountant, bookkeeper, or tax preparer.
Section three
Accuracy of content
We research, write, and review each guide before publishing it, and we revise pages when a tool's documented behavior changes. Even so, the site is a living document, and some parts of it will lag behind reality.
Tool descriptions reflect publicly documented information at the time of writing. Prices, plan names, feature limits, and integration lists move often in this category, and a page written last quarter may already describe a different tier than the one you see when you sign in.
We do not warrant that content is complete, current, or error-free. If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us which page and what you expected to see, and we will check it against the vendor's own documentation.
What you can rely on
-
We name our sources
Workflow descriptions are built from vendor documentation, help centers, and product pages, and we say which tool a claim belongs to.
-
We date the work
Guides carry the period they were researched for, so you can judge how much of a page still applies to the current plans.
-
We correct what we can
Reported errors are checked against the vendor's own material, and the page is updated or the claim is removed.
Section four
Intellectual property
Text and other content on the site are owned by PaperlessFin or used with permission. That covers our guides, comparisons, page copy, and the way the pages are put together.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or republish content without prior written permission, except for brief quotations with attribution. A quotation is brief when it supports your own point: a few sentences with a link back to the page it came from.
Republishing a whole guide, reposting it behind a paywall, or feeding it into a product that resells it is not allowed. If you want to reference our work in training material, a course, or a newsletter, ask first and describe how you plan to use it.
Product names, logos, and brands mentioned on the site belong to their respective owners and appear for identification only.
Editorial material
Quoting with attribution is fine
Quoting is welcome when it credits the page it came from. Copying whole sections into another site, a paid course, or a product that resells our work is not.
Section five
Third-party references
The site names third-party tools and platforms for illustration. When a guide describes how receipt capture, bank feeds, or approval routing works inside a named product, the reference exists to make the workflow concrete.
These references do not imply affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement in either direction. We are not paid to place a tool in a guide, and naming a product does not mean we recommend it for your business.
Third-party sites have their own terms and policies, which govern your use of them. When you follow a link to a vendor's help center or pricing page, you are on their property and their rules apply, including how they handle your data.
Our own handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, and our use of cookies is described in the Cookie Policy.
Section six
Limitation of liability
The site is published as-is. Reading a guide is not the same as having someone check your books.
To the extent permitted by law, PaperlessFin is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. That includes decisions you make about software, filing, or process based on something you read here.
Nothing on the site is a promise about an outcome. A workflow that fits one business may not fit yours, and the way a tool behaves can change between plans or after a vendor update. Check the vendor's current documentation before you commit budget or change how your team works.
Where a limitation is not permitted by applicable law, the limits above do not apply to that extent.
Section seven
Changes to the site and terms
The site and these terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Updates happen for ordinary reasons: a page is rewritten, a guide is retired, a section is added to explain how we research tools, or wording is clarified because a reader asked a fair question about it. New pages may add terms that apply to that page only.
The date at the top of a guide tells you when that page was last reviewed. If you rely on a page for an internal decision, check that date first, then confirm the vendor's current terms.
Section eight
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. If a dispute about the site reaches a court, New York law applies and New York courts are the venue.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. The unenforceable part is read as narrowly as possible, or removed, and the remaining sections continue to apply to your use of the site.
Questions readers ask about these terms
Can I quote a guide in a client report?
Yes, if the quotation is brief and credits the page it came from. A few sentences with a link back is normal practice. Republishing a full guide, or copying large sections into another site or a paid product, needs written permission first.
Does reading the site create an accountant-client relationship?
No. The site is an educational resource. Reading it does not create a professional relationship, and the content is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. Bring your specific numbers to a qualified professional before you act on them.
A tool changed its pricing since a guide was written. Now what?
Tell us which page and what changed. We check reported differences against the vendor's own documentation and either update the page or remove the outdated claim. Until a page is revised, treat the vendor's current material as the source of truth.
Are you paid by the tools you mention?
Naming a product in a guide is not a sponsorship and does not imply an endorsement. References exist to make a workflow concrete. Third-party sites have their own terms and policies, and those govern your use of them.
